amour magazine.jpg

Amour magazaine is a new FREE monthly online magazine aiming to bring an alternative to glossy mags like Vogue and Elle. Issue 1 is a "special independent stores edition" and includes lots of seriously cool indie finds. I have a bit of a magazine addiction (not being helped by temptation at work) so this free alternative is most welcomed by me!

Stop the Traffik is a site campainging to put a stop to people trafficking. I first heard of this site this morning watching an interview about how chocolate is produced by slaves. Apparently, nearly half the world's chocolate is made from cocoa grown in the Cote D'Ivoire, Africa. 12,000 children have been trafficked to Cote D'Ivoire to produce this cocoa. Stop the Traffick want all chocolate companies to stamp their wrappers with a guarantee showing that their chocolate has not been produced by using slaves.

You can choose to only eat chocolate that is guaranteed to be 'Traffik Free' which includes Divine, Green & Black Maya Gold and those listed on the STOP THE TRAFFIK Good Chocolate Guide.

If you have trouble with pdfs (as I do) you can also view this guide here.

rawchoc.jpg

I've just received my order from Raw Intent. I bought barleygrass powder, wolfberries, maca and jar of raw chocolate spread. That spread has to be the tastiest food I have ever had, it's like an orgasm in your mouth, and furthermore, it's actually good for you!
Made only from organic ingredients.
This smooth, rich, sugar free, dairy free natural raw chocolate spread is guaranteed to convert you off the processed stuff.

Spread it on anything you can, drizzle on desserts, add to a smoothie or eat straight from the jar!

High in antioxidants, magnesium, theobromine and many trace minerals, this is the ultimate combination of taste, indulgence and health.

It does come in a tiny jar which I've had to hide from my line of vision as I fear I will consume all of it in one go. It's much better than a jumbo sized block of Cadburys, it's even better than a lovely bar of fair-trade Divine (sorry guys you are incredibly tasty though). It contains raw chocolate beans, coconut butter and agave syrup (very sweet but doesn't act like sugar and is good for you). I'm not sure I can go back to the Cadburys now, it's just not the same!

You can find out about the Raw Chocolate Revolution but the writer might be a bit weird for some.

Had a bit of a shock today, C had over a thousand pounds stolen from his bank account. The company doing the stealing is a dodgy online poker company (something he's never done). Anyways, the crime is against the bank so he will of course get all his money back. Bit worrying though!

I scored 92% in my Access exam! I'm fully qualified to make databases now wooo

Thursday, March 1

This blog is looking shabby, lots of photos are dissapearing because my old host is moving. Not that anyone checks my archives, but that's the explantion as to all the little red crosses. I'm still in the process of moving blogs but I haven't had time to design the new layout (featuring pandas). I'm also deleting old quizzes and links that don't work, it's good to have a blog spring clean-up.

Sunday, February 25

C and I spent the last four days at his parent's house in Northamptonshire. Two weeks ago, sadly, his Gran passed away so we were down there to attend her funeral. She was living in a care home but wasn't ill at the time so it was a shock to the family when they received the news that she'd died. At the end they played "Flower of Scotland" which is a rather moving Scottish bagpipe song.

I have finally got another job which I start tomorrow. Can't say exactly who I'm working for (for privacy reasons) but let's just say it's a high street shop that sells magazines and books.

I had a few hours training on the till last week which consisted of telling me the buttons on the till and letting me loose on the general public. I'm confident enough on tills, though I haven't used this sort of epos system before. The shop sells cigarettes, which even though I used to smoke, I just can't understand the slang people use for various brands. One man asked me "pack of purples" which turned out to be Silk Cut. I Hope I don't make too many mistakes tomorrow!

Here's the chocolate sauce pudding I made for my Valentine. Really it makes too much for one sitting and it's VERY rich, possibly making you feel ill afterwards, still delicious though.

Wednesday, February 14

Readymechs are free, flatpack toys for you to print and build.

Tuesday, February 13

C and I are making dinner for each other on Valentine's Day. He's in charge of the main course and I'm in charge of pudding so I've been searching for delicious chocolate recipes.

Real Simple (a really good magazine I didn't think you could get here in the U.K. but chatiry reliably informs me you can buy it from Borders) have 5-star chocolate dessert recipes.

Then again Green and Blacks has a delcious looking truffle recipe.

In the end I've decided to go for sticky chocolate pudding with a hot sauce.
